Don’t spend $3-4 on store-bought hummus. I often find garbanzo beans for $1 each, and the rest I usually have on hand. Serve with pita chips or fresh veggies.

  • 1 can drained garbanzo beans liquid reserved
  • 1/4 cup lemon juice
  • 1/4 cup tahini well stirred
  • 1 garlic clove
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 2-3 tablespoons garbanzo bean liquid can add extra if needed


  • Combine all of the ingredients in a blender or food processor. I have a Ninja and that works really well. Blend until smooth. That's it!
  • If the hummus is too thick you can add extra garbanzo bean liquid.
